Beach Wedding Sandles

I have been working on some beaded beach sandals for a friends wedding and I'm hoping they are what she was wanting....
It's always a little worrisome when doing a custom job.
These are the Bridesmaids pair and the Brides pair will be a little more ornate.
If you are interested in making yourself a pair it's really very easy and here is what I used to make these...
6LB fishing line
small beads for the toe part
small pearls
crystal beads
jewelry connector(for the flower to be glued on)
crimp beads(to attach fishing line to jewelry connector and clasps)
clasps
flower
glue(a good one...not hot glue gun or craft glue)

Getting Organized

These shelves were in an awful state but now they are not and sometimes I just stop to look at them because they are so tidy.....lame I know. What can I say, I love an organized space!
So, these shelves needed some open bins for easier access to things and I was going to buy Ikea ones but found some at Dollarama for $3 each. SOLD.....otherwise I would have had to wait awhile as we do not have an Ikea near us and I wanted to get them done.
Are any of you like that.....when you have an idea in mind and your excited to do it you just want to get 'er done. Well that's how I was feeling.
Bought the cheaper ones and they are working perfectly. Our things are so much easier to access and it looks very neat and orderly. I didn't just use those bins thought.....I did have some Rubbermaid containers and a few other bags and boxes that we used as well.
I spent just under $50 for the new storage.

DIY Wedding Headpiece

I was recently wedding shopping with a friend(she's getting married) and she was interested in a headpiece but when I looked at the price I thought you've got to be kidding me!!!
They wanted well over $100 for it and it was nothing special(by that I mean no precious stones or metals) so without telling her I went looking for supplies to make one and made the one pictured above. It is slightly simpler then the one she tried on but a heck of a lot cheaper!
The cost of the one that I made was approximately $20.....gasp.
Now you might be thinking it took forever to make and was very complicated but you would be wrong. It took me less then a half an hour to do and the drying time(for the glue) was 24-48 hours.
If you are interested in making your own check out the picture below for all the supplies you need and I will share some simple steps.

Step One-trim the rhinestone chain to the desired length for your headband
Step Two-attach the rhinestone chain with glue(a small amount) to your headband
Step three-wrap the wire around the rhinestone chine and headband(just once in between each rhinestone)
Step Four-either wrap the ends of the wire around the last rhinestone or tuck them under the wrapped wire

If you love the simple look of just the rhinestones then you are done. Just let the glue fully cure/dry and it will be good to go. If you want to add some decoration/embellishment keep going :)

Step Five(optional)-attach your decoration/embellishment with glue or wire or both....I used both as my headband had a circle connecting the two bands so I had a spot to put some glue.
Step Six-check the headband for any wire poking out....don't want that.
Step Seven-let the glue fully cure/dry

And that's all there is too it. Hope you guys enjoyed this DIY and if you were curious at all my friend loved the headpiece I made so I gave it to her.

Getting Organized

I have started organizing my home one space/room/closet a day and let me tell you, I am excited!
As you can see above I did our coat closet.....
I went thorough our coats and chucked a bunch we don't wear(just our winter ones). I believe we each have 3 or 4 left in there. I did the same with our shoes and as you can see only my boots remain but we have other storage systems holding all other footwear. I grabbed the three storage containers from other spots in our home to use up top. One is holding my winter wear(mitts, toques, etc), one is holding kids car/restaurant activity books and the third is holding my hubby's hats and IKEA bags.
The plastic drawer system is holding kid shoes(bottom two drawers) and summer lotions and repellants(top two drawers). I just used what we had on hand to organize.
